Bridget Jones’ Diary by Helen Fielding
Is it bad that it took me a long time to think of a book that makes me happy? I suppose that I read books that have bittersweet conclusions, excluding Terry Pratchett’s novels, but I think we’ve had enough for him for the time being, yes? (Hint: that means he will reappear on the list). Comedies make me happy, but even these can be tinged with sadness or scorn. Racking my brain, I eventually decided on Bridget Jones’ Diary. I do prefer the film (I think), but it’s easy to read, with a happy ending, and it does makes me happy.
